EDUCATION & TRAINING
It hasn’t always been easy for women to break into the world of shooting sports but our Ladies Pistol classes have introduced dozens of island women to the knowledge, skills and attitude to become safe and proficient shooters; enjoying the sport with their spouses, children and other club members. Some of our students have gone on to become instructors.
Similarly the NRA certified Home Firearms Safety class that is offered at our facility imparts all family members with the facts and awareness necessary to remain safe in the presence of firearms.
Since 1955 the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife has worked with thousands of certified instructors throughout the state to provide hunter education safety training geared specifically to hunters. The Sportsmen’s club is pleased to be a certified participant in this valuable program.
We are proud to sponsor several youth groups, among them the Boy Scouts of America; for which we offer the venue and training program for them to acquire their rifle, shotgun and archery (2007) merit badges. The Boy Scouts of America and the NRA have developed a comprehensive schedule of training to convey the knowledge and to coach the proficiency required to obtain the skills and the attitude required to be safe and proficient at these sports. The Sportsmen’s club is proud to be able to teach these skills to our children and to provide the venue for them to enjoy the sport with their families.
