The events for this shoot are listed below. Click on an event to view details. 40-round PPQ Qualification EventThis 40-round event is based on typical Police Pistol Qualification standards. It has been designed to allow competitive use of 5-shot revolvers. Courses of fire comes from the PPQ events of the WSCJTC BLEA, the New Mexico Mounted Police, the Lethal Force Institute, the BI Police Department and the Firearms Academy of Seattle. This event will shoot a typical Police Pistol Qualification stage of 40 rounds, using a revolver or pistol, at a paper silhouette target placed at distances varying from 3 to 17 yards with restricted times (4 to 50 seconds). Bring your own center fire handgun of .380 ACP or larger caliber, or use one of the available ones. Highest score wins. An optional course of fire for mini-pistols and snubbie revolvers is also part of this event. These particular handguns are often used as backup guns by law enforcement officers, and thus, the event’s title: BUG. Cost for targets is $2 per shoot. Backup Gun 35-round PPQ Qualification Event (similar to 40-round PPQ)This 35 round event is based on typical Police Pistol Qualification standards. It has been designed to allow the use of 5-shot revolvers and other backup guns. Cowboy Action Shooting EventThis 48 round event will shoot 2 standard Cowboy Action Shooting stages. You will get dressed up as a cowboy, with hat, double holster, and shotgun bandoleer (all provided). You will shoot metal targets using two Ruger Single Action .357 revolvers, a lever action .357 rifle, and a Winchester '97 12 gauge shotgun. Ten pistol shots, 10 rifle shots, and at least 4 shotgun shots. Firearms and ammo will be furnished. Each miss counts 5 seconds added to your raw time. Fastest time wins. Cost for light load “cowboy” ammo (suitable for steel targets) is $5 per shoot. Limited Vickers 48-round IDPA Classification Event This 48-round event is based on the IDPA (International Defensive Pistol Association) Classification Match and involves shooting while standing, kneeling and retreating. Barricades and barrels are employed to simulate obstacles, cover and concealment in which contestants much shoot around. Score is taken from a combination of time and hit count. Cost for targets is $3 per shoot. Camp Perry National Match Event (Bullseye) This 30-round event is based on the NRA Sanctioned National Match Course. These matches take place annually at Camp Perry, Ohio in July and August. Distances have been altered to allow the competitive use of defensive firearms of short barrel length. Competitors shoot a “Gallery” match using .22 target pistols or service handguns at 25 yards and 50 feet. One stage of 10 rounds in 5 minutes; two stages of 5 rounds in 20 seconds; and two stages of 5 rounds in 10 seconds. You may bring your own rim fire handgun, use one of the .22 pistols available, or shoot your service handgun. Highest score wins. Cost for targets is $1 per shoot. NRA Handgun Qualification Distinguished Expert Event This 48-round event is based on the revised (fall 2006) NRA Handgun Distinguished Expert Qualification course of fire. The revised course of fire alters the target distances, allows target choices and modifies scoring for 5‑shot revolvers. Competitors shoot two stages using large tombstone-appearing paper targets at 30 feet (hard to miss). Shooters will use first a two-handed stance for 6 shots, then a strong-hand only stance for 6 shots, a weak-hand only stance for 6 shots, and finally a two-handed stance for a center-left-right sequence. Each 6‑shot group must be fired in 10 seconds. This is a relatively easy event, since the X-ring is 5 inches across, and hitting the paper scores 5. Highest score wins, most X-s are used to break ties. Competitors completing the event three or more times with a minimum score of 336 for one event and 384 for two events may qualify for the NRA Distinguished Expert Rating and are eligible to receive the associated recognition. Cost for targets is $3 per shoot. This 33-round event is based on the IDPA Classification Match using handguns and popular carbines (in .223/5.56 and pistol calibers). It involves shooting while standing, kneeling, advancing and retreating. Barricades and barrels are employed to simulate obstacles, cover and concealment which must be shot over and around. Score is taken from a combination of time and hit count. Cost for targets is $3 per shoot. Prizes There will be small prizes for the top shooter in each event, and a grand prize for the Top Shooter overall (who achieves highest aggregate score). There will also be a Grand Master Pistolero award for the shooter with the highest aggregate score who completes in all handgun events (except CAS and the optional BUG) with the same handgun.
